I was just driving through GR for work and stopped by for a to-go order. They had dine in option as well. Food was set up cafeteria style with plenty of options. I received two sides and elected to do two meats. The BBQ Meatloaf balls were tangy on the outside and moderately savory on the inside. The Meatloaf Gravey Balls were moderately savory. Based on their suggestion, I also did the fried catfish. Pleasantly crisp, moist, and just the right amount of flavor with seasoning. Did not fall apart after picking it up. Pieces were a decent size. The dressing was good, but wish I had added gravey to it. The Yams are candied and amazing. They are just a tad bit on the sweet side, but definitely worth a try. No need for a dessert after eating this! Customer service was pleasant. Would definetlely recommend a try and give this small business an opportunity to thrive.

I recently visited Southern Smoke and had an amazing experience. Marcus provided exceptional customer service with kindness and attentiveness that truly stood out. The food was absolutely delicious, and I enjoyed every bite. I will definitely be back! Highly recommend!

Would have taken a picture of the food but it looked to damn good to waste time lol. When I tell you it was delicious I’m not exaggerating! This food tastes like your great great grandmother was in the kitchen chef it up! Not a drop of gravy was left behind not a crumb was left behind when I tell you everything was eaten it was devoured! My picky two year old threw a tantrum when he ran out of water corn bread and Mac a cheese that I had to place another order just to get him out the door! so I was placing his order for his extra macaroni and cheese and cold water cornbread. I ordered another three meat combo plate just so we can take it home because we live an hour and 45 minutes from this place we will be back and this will be our place we go to eat every time we’re in Grand Rapids. The Customer Service was fabulous. The atmosphere was wonderful and the old school music was on point. I’m telling you you’re wasting your time reading the comments you need to go in and try it for yourself.

Love this place! Been coming here for a while and they never disappoint. You walk in, pick your sides and main, take a seat and go ham! This is a no thrills or frills soul food place that will leave you satiated and satisfied. I’ve tried countless things on the menu and there isn’t anything I don’t like. Everything is well seasoned, well fried, and well cooked. They run a well oiled machine and GR is so lucky to have such great restaurateurs! Try their food!

The customer service and food here is out of this world amazing! A must try if you haven't been! The spaghetti and greens are my daughter's favorites!!! I will be going back here! Thank you Southern smoke!!

The food reminds me of my childhood. It is the stuff that made Sunday after church dinner so special! And we are blessed to be able to have it here in our area. All the comfort food you need is here. I ordered the fried chicken dinner with my two sides of greens and mac n' cheese and a corn muffin. My husband ordered turkey knuckles with gravy. He chose spaghetti and Cabbage as his two sides. He opted for the hot water cornbread. We decided to eat on site. My husband said the turkey knuckles and gravy were very flavorful. He was happy with his sides too. I haven't eaten chicken this good since my momma passed. My sides were just delicious. I had the homemade raspberry ice tea. I encourage you to try this. Get a large because it is that good. We'll be back for sure!

Attending an Bday party event here and had the opportunity to eat the Fried Chicken, Green Beans and Mac N Cheese. EVERYTHING was DELICIOUS! I cannot wait to come back to try other items, looks like it is a cafeteria style restaurant with lots of options. Heard other frequent guest mention how good the food is so I have to return to support and fill my tummy with some yummy!
